Richard grew up in Vernon, CT and attended Connecticut State University where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelors degree in Finance. While there, he was his graduating class' Treasurer, and in his senior year was given the "Excellence in Finance Award" by the Dean of the University and the Chairman of the School of Business.  After college, Richard worked as a Financial Analyst for Midland Bank (now HSBC) in London, and later returned to Vernon and worked as a Financial Auditor for Fleet Bank (now BoA) and as a Senior Analyst for the Travelers. Since 1995, he's worked independently in greater Hartford and western Massachusetts specializing in Retirement and Estate Planning for seniors, and has been a strict advocate of a conservative investment philosophy. In fact, it's Russell's like-minded conservative approach that was the primary impetus in his decision to partner with Russ and Scranton Financial Group.

Richard resides in Enfield, CT with his wife and two sons. He is active in his community and has held various positions in organizations and activities related to school, sports, scouting, etc. He has been a member of the Town of Enfield Ethics Commission since 2003 and the Ethics Commission Chairman since 2007. Since November 2009, he is on a 1 term absence required after 3 active terms.
